This happened at WonderCon
For readers who have no idea who Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey are, here’s what these guys used to look like:
The man was clearly making fun of my hair, which is currently huge and blonde and curly. But that’s okay! When I was a teenage boy in the 1990’s, I would have loved to look the way one of these guys did in 1970’s. I guess I finally made it, and it only took an additional 25+ years and swapping genders. Nice!
WonderCon was so quiet last weekend! Every vendor and artist I talked to said the same. It felt so ominous to me. The most activity I saw happened in front of the convention center, where the cosplayers gather to take pictures. But even that seemed more low-energy this year. It was just very strange.
But on the positive side, the one panel I was on this year went very well. The room was nearly full, which was great. Plus, I enjoyed being with friends, meeting new people and signing books, as usual. It would have been nice if I’d sold more books, but whadaya gonna do? People just weren’t spending much money this year. At least I stayed pretty effing zen and drew some cats!
